What’s coming…..soon and very soon

Hello All,

It has been awhile and I thought I should pop by and let the world know that I still exist and still vigorously doing what I do…. to cultivate my authentic individual unique presence and meaning through music.

Through working at my current church job as assistant director of music at uuclb.org. I had the pleasure of working with a group of mature yet vibrant people who thrive on “super” active living and caring for the community. Of which in this case, it would be Long Beach. I was so excited to witness these people tirelessly and continuously live with the “never stop, never give up without a fight for a good cause” attitude that I have taken upon this seemingly fun yet monumental project at my church job to start up or bring back a concert series which I heard it used to be quite the annual event some years ago.

I really thought that it would be a piece a cake in the beginning and 8 months later…..I can’t believe the work I’ve had to put in plus the importance of group support through a committee of people who genuinely cared about music & arts.

So there you go, here’s the a brand spanking new concert series with the very first concert opening on Feburary 5th Sunday 2:00pm at uuclb.org

Check out the artists and get info on the concert series:

Also I will be presenting a fundraising concert “A New Beginning” for Dominguez and Crossroads UMC on January 14th, Saturday at 3:00pm. Featuring: Crossroads UMC choir and music minister Linda Miles; Seal Beach UMC music director Anjanette Navarro; Aaron Palmer, guitar; Stephan Haas, piano                                                                                                                        Admission:$10 (Host by Grace UMC of Long Beach: 2325 3rd street, Long Beach).

This would be a very dynamic program as I will be doing classical, gospel, musical theatre & my own orginal materials!                                                                                                                                                                                                              Check out the newly designed flier with all the info:                                                                                                                                      click here and the red link on the next page—>Jan.14th Cris Law Concert

Thank you and I look forward to see you there!                                                                                                                                    Sincerely,                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Cris Law / TwinkleU

Chant “Dona Nobis Pacem” on Electricity Drone

You know that buzzing sound from a light? I find myself gravitating towards the sound of electricity. I can hear and feel this raw energy. It’s calming yet exciting in it’s own way. So I took that sound of electricity from a building, used it as a drone and created a chant. Combining this universal text “Dona Nobis Pacem” with my melodies. So here is a sample of my latest inspiration and creation… turn it up and feel it. Feel it “giving us peace”.

2011 Fall Perspective and more…

Hello All,

To the tens of people who happen to stumbled onto this blog of mine, welcome! And I promise you nothing but my honesty and my share of perspective in the past 10 months.

It has been quite an interesting experience in regards to the release of my debut album “TwinkleU”. Lots of songwriters and musicians dreamed of that moment….the moment when their music is finally ready to come out of their computers deeply hidden in the files and ready to be shown to the world. I’m one of them and what I didn’t anticipate is the part after your album drops.
Yay! It’s finally out, uh……now what??

Well, with a non-existent budget and unlike other artists who normally would have a team of people cooking, stirring and making all kinds of noise in order to create a buzz. The fact that everything is being handled and figured out between my producer Frank and I. We simply had nothing to loose but to try and experiment with various online companies that offer glimpses of hope and opportunities to independent artists like me. Who knew that the existence of my music was going to be heavily dependent on my presence online? It just didn’t occur to me until my album was released a week later that I’ve realized that I would have to plug myself into social media outlets as well as online music marketing/networking mediums like I’m a 19 year old intern with nothing better to do but to sit infront of the screen and supposedly to be excited about the fact that I need to get more “followers” and find more people to “follow” me. Eventhough I might look like I would get carded everywhere I go, I’m no longer in the 18 to 21 bracket and this online thing has become such a taxing event. Don’t get me wrong, after all I still embodied that “super anal asian focused” mind set and work ethic to get things done no matter how hard it is. Oh and don’t even assume that I have achieved lots of sales from my music because it has got to do with the fact that we don’t have nearly enough funding to launch a full marketing campaign therefore no one really knows about my music. I do sincerely thank those who had purchased my CD when it first came out and I’m eternally grateful. But this online thing is so vague and so unpredictably taxing that I just like to take this opportunity to rant a little……just a little.

On the other hand, I have had quite a blast making the 3.5 music videos that we have created so far. “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, “Magic”, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star CLUB Mix” and the revised version of”Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”. It was a lot of work and boy did it cost us a lot but I rather be creating something rather than doing the social media thing….a quote from the wonderfully wicked and talented Betty White “…and now that I do know what it is, I have to say…it sounds like a huge waste of time…”. I would like to share with you that I mainly put together the video of “T.T.L.S. Club Mix”, from coming up with the idea to putting together the video production down to doing my own hair and I am very proud of it.

I’ve been so distractingly involved with the virtual world that I almost forgot that I love to perform and interact with people and make them feel sound substance and have a good time. So please check out our music videos and check in once in awhile as I will be performing here and there. In spring 2012, I will be presenting my last Graduate Recital followed by a concert at UUCLB.org . Also I will be putting together a summer mini-tour showcasing my pop materials as well as my upcoming classical materials.

You shall expect to see me in person.
Performing,
for you.

Thanks for reading,
Sincerely,
Cris Law/TwinkleU

TwinkleU’s “Magic” Video Shoot at the Ebell Theater in Santa Ana

Our most ambitious video to date is nearly in the can. We shot on an 100 plus year old stage with bellydancers, jugglers, a baby, a magician, red hat ladies and an internet star on January 4 in Santa Ana, CA.

The staff at the Ebell Theater made sure we were comfortable and taken care of in this beautiful 1900’s era building which is in remarkable condition. We ended up booking nearly everyone through http://celebrationsensation.net including the camera man who also handled lighting and nearly everything technical.

Patrick Connor, whose talents include being a juggler/unicycle rider executed every crazy stunt we asked for. Frank Rogala’s aunt Tillie braved the cold theater with her friend Carol and they sported their bright red hat lady outfits. Internationally known music performer David Choi (http://DavidChoiMusic.com) a friend of Johnny Tong (our magician in the “Magic” video) came by to meet us, hang out and ended up helping us with a scene (you’ll have to wait and see – no spoilers here).

Mariah and her beautiful daughter Saba (who just immigrated here from Iran!) lit up the camera with their beautiful eyes

Our baby (Hudson) was the perfect performer. Smiling whenever he heard the director’s (Frank Rogala’s) voice, and doing his scenes with a smile long after his bedtime. We had to wrap one hour early due to the illness in the cameraperson’s family – so greenscreen shots will be done, hopefully, in the next few days.

Looking to rent a theater in Orange County, Long Beach, Los Angeles, etc.

We are looking for a theater to rent for the shooting of the video for Magic. We need a place that has no windows and has a decent (not small) medium to large size stage. We should be able to shoot the video in 6 to 8 hours and we can work with the theatre’s schedule. There are approximately 5 performers, but none will appear on the stage at the same time (due to the magic of video compositing), so this is a very safe/sane shoot.

We would prefer the proximity of the theater to be close to Anaheim, but if it is the right place, it is the right place and we will go to the inland empire or the valley if needed.

If you have a suggestion or you know a place, please email us at twinkleumusic@gmail.com!

Hello All:

So much going on and so much to do……online that is.
We (Frank and I) are working non stop on creating content for all the online social networking outlets as well as our official website.
Photo shoots, working on website, finding our way through Facebook, Myspace and this blog, working out the details for our music release, putting together a CD release celebration event, working out the details for my concert and related performances, oh and we are working on our first music video for “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”…….there’s just plenty of stuff to do!

Talk about logistics, details and then some more to do….
we’re very excited and pumped up about all this though : )
Sincerely,
